SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER


General Discription


We are searching for a Senior Project Manager to work out of our Scott Design Build Inc. division, in our Hamilton office. Reporting directly to the President, this senior level position is responsible for managing the overall organization, administration, and delivery of the design, procurement, and construction of the project in conformance with company guidelines. The Senior Project Manager provides leadership and maintains effective communication with the project management team resulting in satisfied clients, health and safety, profitability, business growth, and quality of work. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in a project management role and have demonstrated success in managing $3 million to $30 million dollar projects.



Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Monitor the progress of all projects, including schedule, costs, equipment, and quality control
  • Review the accuracy of billing and invoices and ensure it reflects all work completed on site to date
  • Develop and implement procedures for contract, schedule, budget, quality control, document, and communications management
  • Review the budget for each project as they progress
  • Read, interpret, analyze, and forecast project costs to ensure a positive cash flow
  • Assist in the preparation of contracts and negotiation of revisions, changes, and additions
  • Evaluate the performance of the projects and ensure project schedules are achieved
  • Identify when the project is underperforming and work with the project management team to develop an immediate strategy for correction
  • Ensure construction project files and documents are prepared, shared, and logged with a high level of accuracy and within the required timeframes
  • Ensure the Project Managers implement proper procedures for document control, change orders, and scope changes
  • Ensure the project management team has an effective construction strategy and that they are effectively planning all construction operations of the projects
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, and the project management team to ensure projects run smoothly and to resolve concerns and complaints promptly and efficiently
  • Ensure effective and respectful communication with all involved in each project
  • Provide direction and supervision to the project management team and distribute workload accordingly
  • Mentor and assess the performance of the project management team
  • Identify project management related training needs and recommend training
  • Prepare a weekly status report for the President
  • Regular open communication with the President of all high level and financial issues
  • Frequent and strong presence on all project sites



Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a Project Management role
  • Post-secondary education in project management
  • PMP or CAPM certification is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated success in managing $3 million to $30 million dollar projects
  • Strong management and leadership skills, with the ability to lead a team of Project Managers to ensure project deadlines and budgets are being met
  • Detail oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong mathematical skills and ability to read drawings and visualize in 3D
  • Proficiency with MS Office (including Word, Excel, Projects, & Outlook)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and job task planning skills are essential
  • Previous experience with project management software (i.e. Procore) is considered an asset
  • LEED certification is considered an asset
  • Ability to travel as required
